ON SITE: FAQs

Who do I ask for help or advice?

Look for people with ORANGE batches. They are members of the TC2013 Team or Helping Hands and will help if you have any questions.

Where do the sessions take place?

Simply follow the orange lines on the floors and walls to get to the conference rooms. Also, keep a look out for information posters, the TV screen on the ground floor and the schedule you find in this booklet.

What shall I wear?

No, this is not a question concerning dress code – there is none. As the conference includes literal touring out in the fresh air, however, we do want to recommend taking appropriate shoes and a coat. In case of rain, there are umbrellas available for lend at the reception desk.

How do I get about in Karlsruhe?

Karlsruhe isn’t that big. So if you just want to take a stroll we can highly recommend it. For longer distances, we have included daily travel cards for the tram in your welcome package. You need to validate them once you get on the tram and they will be valid for 24 hours from that moment on. Also, we have prepared city and tram maps for you to get from the reception desk. Feel free to ask the organizing staff for further advice.

How do I get to the Conference Dinner?

You may go to the Conference Dinner on Thursday, 24 October, only if you have booked the All-In Option or the Conference Dinner separately. To get there, you have two possibilities:

  • Go on your own via tram no. S1 from Europaplatz in the direction of “Ettlingen”, get off at the “Ettlingen Albgaubad” stop and walk to Restaurant Hofgarten, Pforzheimer Str. 13. City maps of Ettlingen are available at the reception desk. We meet at the restaurant at approx. 7.30 p.m. Please ask the organizing team for further advice.
  •  Or meet the organizing team on the 1st floor of Karlshochschule at 7.00 p.m. The team will lead the way. Please make sure to be on time for departure.

How do I get to the Surprise Tour?

You may go to the Surprise Tour on Friday, 25 October, only if you have booked the All-In Option or the Surprise Tour separately. We meet on the 1st floor of Karlshochschule at 4.30 p.m. for departure. Please make sure to be on time.

What if I’m hungry after the Surprise Tour?

We have made reservations at three restaurants in Karlsruhe – a Mexican, an Italian and a German one. On Thursday, there is a registration list at the reception desk for you to put your name down for one of those restaurants. Please make sure to put your name on the list before 6.00 p.m. on Thursday so we can make the final arrangements.

And what if I’m thirsty after that?

If you want to go for drinks after dinner on Friday we have booked a table at a nice bar nearby. Members of our organizing team will take you there from whatever restaurant you are.

How is the trip to Strasbourg organized?

You may go on the trip to Strasbourg on Saturday, 26 October, only if you have booked the trip in advance. We meet in front of the Karlshochschule building at 8.30 a.m., where a coach is going to pick us up. Please make sure to be on time.

On the way back, the coach is going to make a stop at Karlsruhe main station for everyone who needs to catch a train to the airport. If that’s the case for you please make sure to bring your luggage in the morning. You can leave it in the coach during our stay in Strasbourg. We will arrive at Karlsruhe main station well before 4.00 p.m. so you can, for example, take the train to Frankfurt airport at 4.00 or 4.12 p.m. Please make sure to book your train ticket in advance, though.

The coach will then drive back to Karlshochschule and drop off everyone else.

In case of any further questions, please do not hesitate to approach the organizing team!
